J.K. Rowling sends care package to teenage survivor of mass shooting

Teenager had quoted Dumbledore in a public address after shooting.

AND THIS IS why we love J.K. Rowling.

In July, fifteen-year-old Cassidy Stay was the sole survivor of a mass shooting that killed her parents and four siblings.

Three days after the horrific event, she gave a speech to a crowd in Houston in which she quoted Albus Dumbledore.

Afterwards, a Facebook campaign to try organise a meeting between Stay and Rowling was set up. And while a meeting has yet to take place, the Facebook page yesterday confirmed that Stay had received a personal letter from J.K. Rowling, writing as Dumbledore.

According to The Houston Chronicle, a family friend confirmed the receipt of the letter and said the teenager was “super excited” to receive it.
